The MBA actively facilitates dialogue between military installations, sponsors, and community partners, ensuring alignment of shared goals and resources. It also plays a crucial role in setting the agenda for military athlete development and mental health awareness, with a focus on issues like suicide prevention and Post Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI).
The organization’s governance includes a dedicated leadership team—comprising the Deputy Commissioner, Conference Commissioner, and Basketball Council—overseeing four major military basketball conferences, encompassing 44 to 50 volunteer varsity programs nationwide. The MBA also functions as a mediator and conflict resolver within the military sports community, fostering unity and collaboration across diverse organizations.
Annually, the MBA hosts its Playoffs and Finals, where teams compete to identify the top military installation in Men’s and Women’s Military Basketball. These events offer opportunities for community interaction, veteran recognition, and stakeholder engagement, effectively raising awareness and driving advocacy for military personnel and their families. Through its strategic leadership, the MBA continues to build bridges among military communities, sponsors, and advocates, shaping the future of military basketball as a force for positive social impact and community resilience.
