FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 01/14/2026
MILITARY BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION PARTNERS WITH STARS AND STRIPES TO AMPLIFY STORIES OF MILITARY RESILIENCE AND WELL-BEING
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — The Military Basketball Association (MBA) today announced a strategic partnership with Stars and Stripes, the esteemed independent news organization, to support the upcoming 2026 MBA Playoffs and Season. This collaboration will leverage Stars and Stripes' unparalleled reach and commitment to military reporting to highlight the MBA's mission of promoting social and mental well-being through competitive basketball for service members and veterans.
"The Military Basketball Association is proud to announce the support of Stars and Stripes for the upcoming 2026 MBA Playoffs and Season," said Mike Meyers, MBA Founder and Commissioner. "Stars and Stripes is one of the most trusted newspapers in the US. Having visited their Headquarters, I was in awe, taken back to a time from my deployment and throughout the history of our military. As the MBA/WMBA seeks to use sports and competition to enhance social and mental wellbeing, we are confident that Stars and Stripes can tell our story like no other platform. We want anyone who reads or hears our stories in their publications to be inspired to seek the resources they may need as military or veterans. We thank the leadership at Stars and Stripes for working with our team to make this support a reality and for their willingness to see our passion and put our stories to pen."
This partnership resonates deeply with those who understand the power of communication within the military community. "As a Combat Cameraman (COMCAM) with the 55th COMCAM during Operation Inherent Resolve in 2015, I witnessed firsthand the critical importance of visual communication in conveying powerful stories from the front lines," said Retired First Sergeant Christopher Adell, MBA Vice President of Digital Media. "Stars and Stripes has a storied history of delivering vital information and inspiring narratives to our service members and veterans. This partnership ensures that the MBA's mission of fostering resilience and well-being through sport will be amplified and shared with the very audience we aim to serve, just as COMCAM amplified the stories of our troops."
The 2026 MBA and WMBA Championship Finals, held May 1–3, 2026, at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, will bring together teams from across the services and veteran community. The event aims to foster competition and promote wellbeing through organized sport.
