MCAS Miramar Tops PWMBC Opening Weekend!

by PWMBC Press

The PWMBC opened the military basketball season this past weekend with games played at Camp Pendleton & Ft. Irwin.

It was a special weekend at Camp Pendleton as MCAS Miramar, MCAS Yuma and the host team Camp Pendleton squared off against each other.  MCAS Miramar was the surprise team of the weekend going 3-1, Camp Pendleton went 2-2 and MCAS Yuma went 1-3. This has been the first time in a long time that 3 marine teams played each other in regular season play. We are looking forward to seeing theses teams more as the season unfolds.

Meanwhile at Ft. Irwin four teams competed this weekend to start the season. Pre season #1 Nellis AFB along with the host team Ft. Irwin & Edwards AFB  all went 2-1 this weekend while Vandenberg AFB went 0-3. Edwards AFB has to be the surprise team of the weekend at Ft. Irwin as they are off to a good start, lets see if they can sustain their early success.

After week 1 MCAS Miramar (3-1) & Edwards AFB (2-1) are showing that the PWMBC may not 3 team race as in the past. These upstart teams have shown early that they can compete with the top teams in the conference, but will have to continue to prove themselves as the season continues. Here are the standings after week 1.  You can also see the other MBA conference standings by going to
